GPR, the first ground positioning radar technology specifically designed for self-driving navigation, creates a 3-D map of the road's unique subsurface signatures, enabling new levels of safety and performance for advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicle (AV) technology. As the most accurate and reliable vehicle positioning system at scale, GPR provides a solution to tackle the automotive industry’s common obstacles surrounding automated and autonomous operations on poorly marked road surfaces, off-road terrain, and in inclement weather. GPR enabled vehicles are armed with pinpoint accuracy— to the centimeter —even in the most challenging conditions. Initially developed for the U.S. military to navigate vehicles in unpredictable off-road environments, GPR is now used to reliably and safely support vehicle positioning and localization in consumer vehicles as well as in the trucking and delivery, warehousing, construction, utilities, mining, and agriculture industries.
