Hendrik Schilling, co-founder, and CTO of rabbitAI has experienced both sides of computational imaging, from the perspective of computer vision as well as image synthesis. Coming from a background in computer graphics, his Ph.D. studies at the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing, an industry on campus initiative, were financed by Sony and focused on camera calibration and 3D reconstruction. In his startup rabbitAI he uses his experience to combine computer vision and image synthesis in an approach called mixed reality, aiming at solving difficult edge cases and accelerating AI-based vision applications.
